Centurion, as a premisses based company with a high end gallery to professionally displaying either single articles or whole collections, normally host their auctions in their mentioned gallery and sales rooms. However, if a client has a whole inheritance or large collection which he/she wishes to liquidate but do not wish to or cannot transport the said quantity to our gallery, we will be at the clients' disposal and will conduct the auction at his residence accordingly and to the client's requirements.
A private sale requires at least 1 month (30 days) to get everything in order before opening for viewing. Such preparations include a detailed inventory of all the articles, setting up and rearranging the place, attaching all required labeling, inventory and auction numbers, capturing photos and video imaging and producing a full illustrated catalogue.
It is important to include that when a client instructs Centurion to conduct a private sale in their own residence/premises, they are not to be held responsible should the unthinkable happen as their own insurance will not cover the said private venue. Centurion will, however, assign, at their own expense, a security member to guard the residence/premises overnight from the 1st day of the viewing till the day they clear out the auction venue.
Unless agreed otherwise, fees and commissions as to private sales are exactly the same as seller's fees. Seller fees include a 10% auctioneers commission on the hammer price together with an 18% VAT on the said commission and a further discussed fee of between (€1000-€2000) for setting up the premises, insurance coverage and marketing charges; Web editing, hosting and entries; photo and video capturing and editing; catalogue editing, publishing and printing; magazines/newspaper adverts, together with an 18% VAT on the said marketing fee. Therefore, if you successfully sell something at €1000, you will get a net pay of €858.40, deducting €100 as auctioneers commission and €18 to cover the VAT on the auctioneers commission.
